Chaetodon bennetti, commonly known as the Bluelashed butterflyfish, is a medium-sized butterflyfish looking similar to a juvenile C. flavissimus and A. trimaculatus . Their body is bright yellow with a black vertical stripe through the eye which fades over time. On their body is a large black spot with an electric blue ring around it. The black sometimes looks like it washed out around the ring. The same electric blue colour is found in the four blue stripes. Two next to the black eye-bar and two on their body towards their forehead.

These fish are quite peaceful to most other fish, but might haress similar looking fish. As juveniles they may be found solitary in Acropora field in shallow waters, as adults live more in pairs. In an aquarium they can best be kept alone unless a proven pair can be found. They’re obligate corallivores, meaning they feed mainly on corals and do need them to stay healthy. This makes them not suitable for a fish-only tank and they will do best in a large reef tank stocked with fast growing SPS, but do keep in mind that they will do considerable damage to these corals! A real specialist fish!
